Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Carmel, IN

The Answers Your Smile Needs

In addition to many hands-on services, patient education is a big part of what we provide here at Springhetti Dentistry. Our goal is to empower our patients so they have all the knowledge they need to look after their oral health and keep their smiles shining. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we hear every day, but if there is something else you’d like to ask, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

How often should I visit the dentist?

The answer to this question is always going to be different from person to person based on their unique needs, but at minimum, it’s recommended to visit a dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. These appointments enable our team to catch and treat minor issues early before they can turn into major problems.

I have a painful toothache. What should I do?

You might just have some food stuck between your teeth, so start by rinsing and flossing around the hurting tooth. If this doesn’t help, then the problem may be due to a cavity or small crack in the enamel. In this case, give us a call so we can see you right away, and take an OTC medication in the meantime. If there is any swelling, apply a cold compress to the face.

When should the wisdom teeth come out?

The wisdom teeth are the most commonly extracted teeth in the world, but the best time to remove them is always different from patient to patient. A few people actually never need them to be removed! To ensure the wisdom teeth don’t cause any trouble, a patient should attend regular checkups. Dr. Springhetti will keep a close eye on the wisdom teeth and recommend they be extracted before they cause any issues. You should also give us a call if you or your child develop a persistent, dull ache or noticeable gum flap towards the back of the jaw, as this could mean the wisdom teeth have become impacted (stuck).

Should I get dental implants, a bridge, or a denture to replace my missing teeth?

This really depends on your specific situation, but in most cases, Dr. Springhetti would highly recommend dental implants to anyone who is looking to replace their teeth. They simply offer the solution that most closely resembles real teeth when it comes to their appearance, strength, and durability. To learn which option would be best for you, however, we recommend scheduling an in-person consultation.

Can you close the gap between my front teeth?

Yes, we have two treatments that can take care of this common flaw—cosmetic bonding and porcelain veneers. Which one should you get? Cosmetic bonding is a faster and more convenient treatment, but to achieve the most beautiful result, porcelain veneers are definitely the way to go. Dr. Springhetti can give you a more definitive recommendation at an in-person consultation, so contact us today to schedule.

Will you take my dental insurance?

Yes, Springhetti Dentistry is in-network with several PPO dental insurance plans, and we’re happy to work with many out-of-network policies as well. To learn more about how we could use your benefits and help you save, contact us today.

I don’t have dental insurance. Is there another way to save on my care?

Yes! If you are a brand new patient, you can get a FREE first exam when you come to see us. Or, if you need more extensive care, you can quickly sign up for low-to-no interest financing right through our website.
